New Zealand pianist Fei Ren is an active chamber musician and accompanist, and has performed extensively in the UK and abroad. Previous engagements include performances with the English Philharmonica, Auckland Philharmonic, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Youth Orchestra, and the Romanian "Banatul" Philharmonic Orchestra.
Fei graduated with distinction from the PGDip Performance program at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Professor Christopher Elton, having also previously completed a Masters degree with first class honours at the University of Auckland under Professor Tamas Vesmas. She received the Lloyd Hartley Prize from the Academy, and was a finalist in the keyboard section of the Royal Overseas League competition. Other notable awards include first prize at the New Zealand National Concerto Competition, the Encouragement Award at the Lev-Vlassenko Piano Competition, and third prize at the International Concerto Competition in Romania. Fei completed an MFA in Creative Practice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a dissertation focusing on Fanny Hensel and her place in the classical canon.
Fei has been supported by Arts Council England, and has received awards from the Hinrichsen Foundation, Britten-Pears Foundation, Ambache Charitable Trust, RVW Trust and the PRS for Music Foundation for work promoting women composers.
